I’ve never really settled into the strat configuration of guitar. I love how they look, I love how they feel, I just can’t get the sounds out of them that I personally enjoy.
This neck came off of a jazzmaster I picked up in a trade for some camera equipment. I love this neck. It feels great. But, I’ve always wanted to restore the JM back to more of a stock configuration.
I had this loaded pickguard from a previous strat experiment lying around. I figured it was time to put the two together and build a new instrument around them.
The top is made from some extra redwood I had left over from Deb’s build. The back is reclaimed Siberian elm from the Detroit area. The combination came from seeing an elm build sitting next to Deb’s guitar in the rack. The colors just seemed to make sense! I chose to bind it in white to match the pickup covers. The gold aluminum components are from Forney Custom Guitar & Amp out of California.
This build went to Andrew in Maryland. Thanks, Andrew!
